Best Road Construction Companies In India [Updated List 2024]

Last Updated on February 22, 2024 by Admin

In the financial year 2022-23, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) set a new record by constructing 5,544 km of national highways, with a remarkable daily pace of construction reaching a record-breaking 78 km in March of that year. Kindly check below the list of the best road construction companies in India.

For the subsequent financial year 2023-24, NHAI has projected an ambitious target to hit around 13,000 km of highway construction by March 2024. This is the highest-ever highway construction achieved in a financial year by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

Additionally, NHAI granted a total of 6,003 km of highway projects in FY23, although this was slightly below its target of 6,500 km. The construction pace for FY23 was reported at 4,882 km, indicating a 13% year-over-year increase.

This ambitious target for FY 2023-24 signifies a substantial increase in highway construction efforts compared to previous years, showcasing the Indian government’s continued focus on improving the country’s infrastructure.

Best Road Construction Companies In India

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has envisaged an ambitious highway development program Bharatmala Pariyojana which includes the development of about 65,000 km of national highways.

Under Phase-I of Bharatmala Pariyojana, the Ministry has approved the implementation of 34,800 km of national highways in 5 years with an outlay of  Rs 5,35,000 crore.

NHAI has been mandated the development of about 27,500 km of national highways under Bharatmala Pariyojna Phase-I

One of the reasons the government supports the road construction sector is that it creates mass employment opportunities. Employment generation has been one of the critical challenges the government has faced.

The government expects its Bharatmala scheme to create 100-million person-days of employment during the construction phase. Moreover, improved economic activity (due to the addition of infrastructure) will create another 22 million jobs.
