U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) situated in Bengaluru of Karnataka State is the lead centre of ISRO for satellite technology. URSC is in the forefront of spacecraft technology towards conceptualization, design, development, fabrication, testing, launch and in-orbit management of spacecraft. As a sequel to its mandate of spacecraft development, the centre is engaged in development of cutting-edge technologies of relevance to its activities and infrastructures set-up for design, development, fabrication and testing of spacecraft.

Over a period of four decades, URSC has successfully established Indian National Satellite (INSAT) system, which is one of the largest domestic communication satellite systems in Asia-Pacific region and Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) system which is one of the largest constellations of earth observation satellites in operation. Navigation with Indian Constellation (NAVIC) an independent Indian Satellite based regional positioning system with a constellation of seven satellites for critical national applications will be operational shortly. The Space science missions like Chandrayaan-1, Mars Orbiter Mission, Chandrayaan-3, Aditya-L1 and Astrosat have received worldwide acclaim and put India in the global map while at the same time inspiring the generation next. The future missions being undertaken by URSC are highly challenging and provide opportunity towards development of innovative technologies and establish the advanced infrastructure needed for space exploration and
beyond.

ISRO URSC has announced JRF positions across multiple engineering and science disciplines, including:

The notification lists positions from JRF-E1 to JRF-E13 and JRF-M1 to JRF-M3, with each position carrying one vacancy except JRF-E4, which has two vacancies.

Educational Qualification

For most JRF positions, candidates must have M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc. (Engg.) or equivalent postgraduate degree in First Class with a minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale. Candidates must also be qualified through CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or equivalent national-level examinations conducted by eligible Central Government departments/agencies.

For JRF-E13, candidates with M.Sc. in Mathematics / Physics must have First Class with at least 65% average marks or 6.84 CGPA/CPI, along with NET/GATE/equivalent qualification.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is 28 years as on 11 July 2026. Age relaxation is applicable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates. Relaxation is also applicable for Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, widows, divorced women, and women judicially separated from their husbands as per Government of India rules.

Fellowship / Stipend

Selected candidates will receive a JRF fellowship stipend of ₹37,000 per month. There is a possibility of increase to ₹42,000 per month as SRF, along with HRA at prescribed rates if hostel accommodation is not provided.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on initial screening of online applications using academic performance and other parameters. Only screened-in candidates will be called for Interview, and interview call letters will be sent by email.

Eligible candidates must apply online through the ISRO website under the Careers section. The online application window is open from 12 June 2026 to 11 July 2026. Applications will be accepted online only, and candidates must preserve their online registration number for future reference.

Candidates should keep the following documents ready before applying:

  • Recent passport-size colour photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format
  • Marks cards and final pass certificate in single PDF
  • SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Serviceman certificate, if claiming age relaxation
  • CSIR-UGC NET / GATE / equivalent national-level exam score card
