WCL Recruitment 2026: Western Coalfields Limited has released Employment Notification No. 2026/69 for the regular recruitment of 444 statutory supervisory personnel. The available positions are Mining Sirdar, T&S Grade-C and Assistant Foreman (Trainee) Electrical/Electrical Supervisor, T&S Grade-C.

WCL Vacancy Details

Horizontal reservation includes 22 Ex-Servicemen vacancies for each post. Nine PwBD vacancies have been identified for the Assistant Foreman Electrical/Electrical Supervisor position. PwBD reservation is not applicable to the Mining Sirdar post under the applicable identification guidelines.

The number of vacancies is provisional and may be increased or reduced according to WCL’s operational requirements and applicable reservation rules.

Eligibility for Mining Sirdar, T&S Grade-C

Candidates must satisfy either of the following qualification routes:

Qualification Route 1

• Valid Mining Sirdar Certificate of Competency issued by the Directorate General of Mines Safety.
• Valid Gas Testing Certificate.
• Valid First-Aid Certificate.
• At least three years of experience working in underground mines.

Qualification Route 2

• Diploma in Mining Engineering from a government-recognised institution.
• Valid Overman Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS.
• Valid Gas Testing Certificate.
• Valid First-Aid Certificate.

Candidates holding a higher statutory competency certificate issued by DGMS may also apply, subject to fulfilling the remaining requirements.

Eligibility for Assistant Foreman Electrical

Applicants for Assistant Foreman (Trainee) Electrical/Electrical Supervisor, T&S Grade-C must possess:

• A minimum three-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a government-recognised institution.
• An Electrical Supervisory Certificate valid for mines and issued by the appropriate government authority.

Equivalent qualifications approved by the Central Government or higher qualifications in the relevant discipline may be accepted. However, degrees, postgraduate qualifications or diplomas obtained through distance-learning or part-time modes will not be considered.

Since the vacancies relate to both underground and opencast mines, candidates possessing restricted competency certificates are not eligible.

WCL Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The applicant must be at least 18 years old as of 10 August 2026. The maximum age for UR and EWS candidates is 30 years.

The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation, Secondary School or equivalent examination certificate issued by a Central or State Board will be treated as final.

WCL Salary and Training Period

Career progression after successful completion of training or probation will be governed by the prevailing cadre schemes and company rules.

WCL Recruitment Selection Process

Eligible applicants will be required to appear for a computer-based test consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions.

• General Aptitude: 20 questions
• Technical Subject: 80 questions
• Total marks: 100
• Examination duration: 90 minutes

• Question-paper language: English and Hindi

The minimum qualifying marks are 50 for UR and EWS candidates, 45 for OBC-NCL candidates and 40 for SC/ST candidates.

Candidates will be shortlisted according to CBT marks. The document-verification zone will ordinarily be three times the number of vacancies in each category. Final merit will be prepared after verification of original certificates and eligibility documents.

Where two candidates obtain equal marks, the older candidate will receive preference. If the tie continues, alphabetical order of the first name recorded in the Matriculation certificate will be considered.

Appointment will also be subject to satisfactory character verification, verification of certificates and fitness in the prescribed initial medical examination.
