Job Details
The Electrical / Electronics Engineer is part of a team who is responsible for a product throughout its development cycle including concept, feasibility, development, testing, commercialization or sustaining.
You will apply your engineering skills to develop, implement and test components for the operation and control of our complex electro-mechanical systems.
Our tools are extremely complex as they might have to operate for periods in excess of 200 hours in extreme environments – high temperature (200 C), extreme pressure (30,000 Psi) and shocks (500 G’s) – up to 30,000 ft from the rig, communicating with the surface through various methods.
Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate with other experts (software engineers, mechanical engineers, physicists, designers, etc.) to design the system.
You will also perform technical planning for system integration, test, and validation, authoring of functional specifications, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include designing complex electrical/electronic devices/assemblies, conducting both lab and /or field tests analyzing test results & preparing technical reports. You will interface with the technical staff from other disciplines and field personnel from domestic and overseas Operations organizations.
Qualification Required in Schlumberger Recruitment
Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s, Masters or PhD in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering (recent graduate with less than 2 years of experience).
Skills Required
- Electrical/Electronic design with at least exposure to one of the following
- Digital design
- Microprocessors (both Microcontrollers and DSP’s.)
- FPGA design
- Signal processing
- Analog design including amplifiers and filters
- Power electronics
- Motor control
- Excellent at verbal and written communication
- Skilled in teamwork, service-oriented and quality minded.
- Knowledge of Assembler, ‘C’, RTOS
- Troubleshooting and Failure Analysis aptitude.
- Schematic CAD and VHDL entry

Stonehouse Technology Centre (SHTC) is the Schlumberger drilling Centre of Excellence. It supports Schlumberger Oilfield Services through innovative engineering and quality-driven manufacturing, with portfolio emphasis on rotary steerable systems, downhole mud motors, and power source products. Over 300 employees work in SHTC’s modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. On site, tools can be monitored using state-of-the-art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations. SHTC continues R&D investment for new technologies, extending operational limits so that clients can reach hotter, deeper reserves.
