About IWAI

Established under the IWAI Act, 1986, IWAI is responsible for the development, maintenance, and regulation of Inland Water Transport (IWT) and National Waterways (NWs) in India. With the addition of 106 new National Waterways in 2016, IWAI plays a pivotal role in enhancing inland navigation infrastructure in the country.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • For Undergraduate Students:
    • Pursuing/completed Graduation
    • Minimum 75% marks in 12th Examination
  • For Postgraduate Students:
    • Pursuing/completed Post-Graduation
    • Minimum 60% marks in Graduation
  • For Research Scholars:
    • Pursuing/completed Research
    • Minimum 60% marks in Post-Graduation

Duration:

  • Minimum 1 month to a maximum of 3 months.
  • In exceptional cases, up to 6 months as per Authority’s discretion.

Stipend:

  • Undergraduates: ₹10,000/month
  • Postgraduates/Research Scholars: ₹20,000/month
    Stipend is subject to satisfactory completion and submission of reports.
