Educational Qualification and GATE Requirements

Applicants must possess the prescribed BE/B.Tech, Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent qualification with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks, calculated as the average of all semesters, or a minimum CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale.

ISRO Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The upper age limit is 28 years as of 17 August 2026.

• UR and EWS candidates: Born on or after 18 August 1998.
• OBC candidates: Born on or after 18 August 1995, wherever the post is reserved for OBC candidates.
• SC and ST candidates: Born on or after 18 August 1993, wherever the post is reserved for the respective category.

Serving government employees, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and eligible reserved-category applicants can receive age relaxation according to Government of India rules.

OBC applicants must hold a valid OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate as of 17 August 2026. EWS applicants must possess a valid Income and Asset Certificate applicable for the financial year 2026-27.

ISRO Scientist/Engineer Selection Process

The prescribed educational qualification represents the minimum eligibility requirement and does not automatically qualify an applicant for the interview.

1. Candidates will be screened using their valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 scores.
2. Shortlisting for interview will ordinarily be undertaken in a ratio of 1:7.
3. Shortlisting will be based on the GATE score, not the GATE marks or GATE rank.
4. The GATE paper code must correspond with the candidate’s qualifying engineering discipline.
5. The final selection panel will give 50% weightage to the GATE score and 50% weightage to interview marks.

Interview Assessment

Qualifying Criteria

• UR and EWS: Minimum 50% in the GATE component, 50% in interview and 60% aggregate.
• Reserved candidates: Minimum 40% in the GATE component, 40% in interview and 50% aggregate, wherever the post is reserved.

Salary, Allowances and Career Progression

Selected candidates will be appointed as Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in Level 10 of the Pay Matrix with a minimum basic salary of Rs.56,100 per month.

Eligible employees may also receive Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance according to the applicable rules. Other admissible benefits include medical facilities for employees and dependants, subsidised canteen facilities, limited residential quarters in place of HRA, Leave Travel Concession, group insurance and House Building Advance.

Employees will be governed by the applicable New Pension Scheme or Unified Pension Scheme. ISRO also provides career progression through its Merit Promotion Scheme, under which advancement in scientific and technical positions is based on periodic merit and performance reviews.
