Educational Qualification Requirements

Candidates must have passed the prescribed qualification by 31 July 2026. Applicants awaiting their final qualifying examination result on the eligibility date are not eligible.

  • Class XII, Diploma and graduate qualifications must be completed through a regular, full-time course from a recognised board, university or institute.
  • A minimum aggregate of 50% marks is required for Class XII, Diploma and graduate qualifications.
  • The minimum is relaxed to 45% for SC and PwBD candidates applying against seats reserved for their categories.
  • ITI candidates require pass marks in a regular, full-time Fitter course recognised by NCVET or SCVT.
  • Only the branches and disciplines specifically listed in the notification will be accepted.
  • Qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence or distance education are not eligible.
  • Candidates holding or pursuing higher professional qualifications such as B.E., B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB or MCA are not eligible if the qualification is completed before joining.
  • Diploma candidates admitted through a recognised lateral-entry scheme may apply if they meet the required aggregate percentage.
  • Candidates must provide an official conversion certificate when their marks are awarded as CGPA, OGPA or letter grades.

Experience and Previous Apprenticeship Conditions

Engineering Diploma holders and vocational certificate holders with one year or more of job experience after acquiring the relevant qualification are not eligible. Candidates who completed the prescribed qualification more than five years before 31 July 2026 are also ineligible.

A candidate who previously completed apprenticeship training in another trade may apply subject to the prescribed waiting period. A minimum gap of one year is normally required after completing the earlier apprenticeship.

No waiting period is required when the earlier apprenticeship contract was terminated because of failure on the employer’s part. A three-month gap generally applies when the candidate terminated the earlier contract because of health problems, financial hardship, relocation, transportation difficulties, career changes or language barriers. The notification provides no waiting period for women in these circumstances.

Candidates whose earlier apprenticeship was terminated due to failure to fulfil the terms of the apprenticeship contract are not eligible. Preference will be given to applicants undergoing apprenticeship training for the first time.

Important Application Restrictions

  • Each candidate can apply for only one trade or discipline.
  • Applications for multiple disciplines will be rejected.
  • B.Sc. candidates with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry can select either Code 101 or Code 108.
  • B.Com candidates can select either Code 108 or Code 109.
  • Secretarial Assistant applicants must select either Panipat or New Delhi as the preferred training location.
  • Submitting applications for Secretarial Assistant positions at both locations will result in rejection.
  • Code 110 is intended for fresher apprentices who have not previously undergone institutional or skill training before practical apprenticeship training.
  • Code 111 applicants must possess a recognised Domestic Data Entry Operator skill certificate for training of less than one year.

IOCL Apprentice Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 24 years as of 31 July 2026 for General and EWS candidates.

  • SC candidates: Up to five years of upper-age relaxation
  • OBC-NCL candidates: Up to three years of upper-age relaxation
  • PwBD candidates: Up to ten years of upper-age relaxation
  • PwBD-SC candidates: Additional relaxation according to the notified government provisions
  • PwBD-OBC-NCL candidates: Additional relaxation according to the notified government provisions

The Class X or Matriculation certificate issued by the relevant education board will be accepted as proof of age.

IOCL Apprentice Selection Process

No written test will be conducted for IOCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026. Selection will be based on the aggregate percentage obtained in the prescribed educational qualification.

  1. Applications meeting the notified eligibility criteria will be arranged in descending order of qualifying examination marks.
  2. Preference will be given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.
  3. When two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate will receive the higher merit position.
  4. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with higher marks in Matriculation will be placed higher.
  5. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification.
  6. Candidates clearing document verification must satisfy the pre-engagement medical fitness standards.
  7. The final offer of engagement will be issued only after documents and medical fitness are found satisfactory.

Documents Required for Verification

Shortlisted candidates should carry the original documents and self-attested copies of the following:

  • Class X certificate as proof of date of birth
  • Class XII marksheet, where applicable
  • Semester-wise or year-wise ITI, Diploma or graduation marksheets
  • Final ITI, Diploma or graduation certificate
  • CGPA, OGPA or letter-grade conversion certificate, where applicable

  • Certificate confirming that the course was completed in regular, full-time mode

  • Required affidavit confirming compliance with apprenticeship eligibility conditions

Stipend, Accommodation and Other Benefits

The monthly stipend will be paid according to the Apprentices Act, Apprentices Rules and Indian Oil guidelines. The notification does not specify a fixed stipend amount for each discipline.

  • No company accommodation or House Rent Allowance will be provided.
  • Selected apprentices under Codes 101, 102, 104, 105, 106 and 107 will receive safety shoes and a returnable helmet wherever applicable.
  • Apprentices will receive 32 days of general leave during the apprenticeship period, including medical leave.
  • Casual leave of 12 days per calendar year will be available on a pro-rata basis.
  • Apprentices will observe holidays followed by the establishment.
  • Unused leave will lapse at the end of the apprenticeship.
  • Selected apprentices will be covered under suitable accident insurance.

Is Employment Guaranteed After the Apprenticeship?

No. Indian Oil Corporation Limited will have no obligation to offer permanent employment after completion of the apprenticeship. Completion of training does not provide an automatic right to employment with the corporation.

Candidates applying for Codes 101, 102, 108, 109, 110 and 111 must register and apply through the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme portal.

Candidates applying for Codes 104, 105, 106 and 107 must register and apply through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal.
