HPCL Apprentice Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for the HPCL Graduate Apprentice engagement.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess an engineering degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering from an institution recognised by the Board of Technical Education, UGC, AICTE or another equivalent authority under prevailing laws.

Engineering graduates must have completed their qualifying degree on or after 1 September 2023. Candidates who completed engineering before 1 September 2023 are not eligible for this apprenticeship engagement.

Minimum Percentage of Marks

  • UR and OBC-NC candidates: Minimum 60% aggregate marks across all semesters or years.
  • SC, ST and PwBD candidates: Minimum 50% aggregate marks across all semesters or years.

Where the university awards CGPA, GPA or letter grades, candidates must enter the equivalent percentage according to the conversion standards prescribed by the university or institute. A conversion certificate may be required during document verification.

Where no official conversion method is available, the percentage must be calculated by dividing the total marks secured across all semesters or years by the total maximum marks. Fractions will be ignored. For example, 49.99% will be treated as less than 50%.

NATS 2.0 Registration

Candidates must be registered and approved on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme 2.0 portal by the concerned Board of Apprenticeship Training. Candidates without the required NATS registration and approval will not be considered.

New applicants can complete their registration through the NATS student registration page.

Age Limit for HPCL Graduate Apprentices

The minimum and maximum age limits will be calculated as of 31 July 2026.

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Maximum age: 25 years
  • SC and ST relaxation: Five years
  • OBC-NC relaxation: Three years
  • PwBD relaxation: Ten years

Relaxation relating to age, reservation and eligibility for SC, ST, OBC-NC and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities will be governed by applicable government guidelines and the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Candidates Who Are Not Eligible

The following candidates are not eligible to apply:

  • Candidates who completed the engineering degree before 1 September 2023.
  • Candidates who have already completed apprenticeship training.
  • Candidates currently undergoing apprenticeship training with another organisation.
  • Candidates having an active apprenticeship contract with another organisation on the NATS portal.
  • Candidates possessing one year or more of work experience.
  • Candidates submitting applications after 31 July 2026.
  • Candidates submitting multiple applications.

An existing apprenticeship contract with another organisation may result in rejection of the application. If such a contract is discovered after joining, the candidature may be cancelled, the training may be terminated and the stipend may be stopped.

HPCL Graduate Apprentice Stipend

Selected Graduate Apprentice Trainees will receive a consolidated stipend of ₹25,000 per month.

  • ₹20,500 will be paid by HPCL.
  • ₹4,500 will be paid directly to the apprentice by the Government of India under the applicable Direct Benefit Transfer scheme.

No housing assistance or additional allowance is payable beyond the prescribed stipend.

HPCL Apprentice Selection Process

The advertisement outlines a merit-based selection process. It does not announce a separate written examination or interview for the current apprenticeship engagement.

Training Duration and Employment Conditions
