According to the agreement, EDF will be responsible for complete engineering integration which will cover the development of entire Jaitapur nuclear power project including nuclear island, conventional island and auxiliary systems. EDF will also provide all the requisite data input and supply EPR tecnology.
GE power will design the conventional island as well as supply its main component for Jaitapur nuclear plant. It will also provide the necessary support and training to the employees of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL).
The layout of the Jaitapur nuclear power plant will be divided into two major parts, one is the nuclear island which is the main component or heart of the power plant and other is conventional island which will house the key components and will help to extract the thermal energy from pressurized steam and convert it into electrical energy.
