Congratulations on your new home. Finally, those endless working hours and sleepless nights have paid off. You are moving into your new home. However, a few things need to be taken care of before you move. 

As you know, moving can be very stressful, preparing your new home for your arrival makes the process easier. Here is everything you need to do right before you move into your new home. Take a look.

1. Set up the utilities 

Taking care of water, electricity, and gas beforehand makes sure you are comfortable in your home from day 1. Fortunately, you can take care of these things before moving into the house. Determine whether or not it is possible to transfer the existing utilities (It is possible only if you are moving into the same city) or if you require to set up new services. For the latter, make sure you give yourself a time of at least two to three weeks because it will take some time to set up these new services in your new home. 

2. Set up the internet and TV connection 

The internet has seeped so deep into our lives that we can’t live without it, even if it is just for a day. Hence, get an internet and TV connection before moving into your new house. 

Again, give yourself time to look for various service providers, compare their prices, and select the right one. You will also need time to figure out the plan that best suits your needs. Once you are done with these things, schedule the installation appointment. 

3. Check the appliances

If you are lucky to find a home with all the essential appliances, you have another thing to take care of before moving into the house. Ahead of your moving day, visit your new home and check all the appliances, including the dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, etc. If something is not in working order, get it repaired before you move. 

On the other hand, if you want to buy any new appliance for your new home, buy it and get it installed before you move. 

Moving into a home without these essential appliances can be nerve-wracking, Hence, take the proactive approach and take care of these things before you move.

4. Check on the repairs and replacement

Unless you are moving into a brand-new home, you might come across a few things that might need replacement or repair. These could be anything- broken window pane, leaky plumbing, musty carpet, etc. 

It is always better to take care of repairs and replacements, minor or major, before moving. Hence, schedule home improvements ahead of time. 

5. Clean the house 

A thorough cleaning is essential before you move into your new home. Take a look around the house and take note of everything that requires your attention. For instance, are the floors clean, or would you need a floor scrubber machine to get rid of dirt and grime? Is the carpet fine or covered with stains? Are the walls good, or do you need to paint them? 

Either call professional services to take care of deep cleaning or do it yourself. In either case, you should have enough time to deal with every nook and cranny.
