Design Head – Formwork (Segmental)

We are looking for an experienced Design Head – Formwork (Segmental) to lead and deliver high-quality formwork design solutions for complex infrastructure and precast segmental projects.

Experience Required

• 6+ years in the Formwork Industry

• Experience in Heavy Fabrication / Scaffolding

• Strong exposure to Segmental Formwork Systems

Job Overview

The Design Head – Formwork (Segmental) will be responsible for designing and optimizing temporary support and formwork systems for concrete and precast segmental structures. The role involves preparing detailed drawings, 3D models, and structural calculations to ensure safety, stability, and cost-effective execution.

The position requires close coordination with project, site, and construction teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure compliance with applicable codes and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Design & Optimization

• Develop and optimize segmental formwork systems for precast and cast-in-situ structures

• Ensure designs are safe, buildable, and economical

Structural Analysis

• Perform structural calculations considering:

  • Concrete pressure

  • Dead and live loads

  • Construction and erection loads

Material Selection

• Select suitable formwork materials based on:

  • Strength and durability

  • Cost efficiency

  • Project-specific requirements

Documentation & Deliverables

• Prepare:

  • Detailed design drawings

  • 3D models

  • Design calculations

  • Method statements

• Support submissions to clients and statutory authorities

Coordination & Technical Support

• Work closely with:

  • Project Managers

  • Site Engineers

  • Contractors and Consultants

• Provide technical guidance and resolve design-related issues

Site Support

• Conduct site visits as required

• Monitor proper implementation of formwork designs and safety practices

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure designs comply with:

  • Project specifications

  • Safety standards

  • Relevant building codes and industry norms

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Education

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering

Software Proficiency

• AutoCAD

• SolidWorks

• STAAD Pro

• Other relevant formwork or structural design tools

Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of:

  • Modular and conventional formwork systems

  • Shoring and scaffolding systems

  • Concrete pressure and construction loads

  • Stability and temporary works design

Professional Skills

• Excellent communication and coordination abilities

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Ability to adapt designs to site constraints and project requirements

Relevant Work Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in design of:

  • Long Line / Short Line Segment Formwork

  • Steel Bridges

  • I-Girder Shuttering

  • Piers & Pier Caps
