Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manager-Contracts to join our dynamic construction team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in contracts management, project coordination, and commercial management across diverse construction projects. This role demands excellent knowledge of contract laws, dispute resolution, and arbitration, along with a strategic approach to project execution and risk management. Key Responsibilities: Contract Management:
  • Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and manage any variations or changes to contracts.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all contract documentation.
Project Coordination:
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project execution aligns with contract requirements.
  • Monitor project progress against contractual obligations and milestones.
  • Address and resolve contractual issues during project execution.
Claims and Dispute Resolution:
  • Identify and prepare claims for extensions of time, additional costs, and other contractual entitlements.
  • Lead the negotiation and settlement of claims with clients and subcontractors.
  • Manage dispute resolution processes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
Risk Management:
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks in contract execution.
  • Maintain a risk register and ensure all identified risks are documented and managed.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and align with approved budgets.
  • Analyse and report on cost variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare cash flow projections and manage project finances effectively
Vendor Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with vendors to ensure favorable terms and cost savings.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare and present regular reports on contract performance, project status, and financial metrics.
  • Ensure all contractual documentation is accurately maintained and easily accessible.
  • Provide support and guidance to project teams on contractual matters.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree in Business Law or a relevant field is preferred.
  • Professional certification in contracts management or quantity surveying (e.g., RICS, NICMAR) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in contracts management within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract law, FIDIC conditions, and construction contract administration.
  • Proven experience in claims management, dispute resolution, and arbitration.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, Primavera, SAP, and ERP systems.
