Eni has recently taken the Final Investment Decision to build, develop and operate the Badamsha Wind Farm. The wind farm will be located at Aktobe Oblast, North West of Kazakhstan and it will have a capacity of 50 MW. This project will represent the first large scale investment in wind technology by ENI.
The construction of the project will start in the few months and it is expected that the commercial operation as well as the connection to the grid will be completed by the end of 2019. The wind farm project will help to generate about 198 GWh annually. Eni has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with General Electric (GE) and the Minister of Energy, Kanat Bozumbayev to promote the development of renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan.
Eni has been actively working in Kazakhstan since 1992. It is joint operator of the Karachaganak field and is an equity partner in various projects in the Northern Caspian Sea, including the giant Kashagan field. Recently in 2018, Eni in partnership with national company KMG, became joint operator in the exploration block Isatay.
